Yet another new Bob Pollard album (Lord of the Birdcage), and I just today found out about it.

Somebody (I'm looking at you M-Cap) hit me up with a link, yo.

Planets Are Blasted is damn near flawless. I would say 10 songs or more would be mix tape fodder.

I agree that a lot of the records (about 5 releases per year) contain a bunch of filler, mostly the Circus Devil's material. As for the official "Pollard" releases, it's the same, but not nearly as bad. That's why I took liberties in posting most of his best solo tracks from '06 to '09. In my opinion his best material, the thing to seek out are the Boston Spaceship records. That's the closest you're going to get to GbV, mostly cos they're a band playing his songs as opposed to one guy, Todd Tobias, playing & recording mostly everything on his solo records which can get old pretty fast.

Boston Spaceships -
I would seek out Zero to 99 first cos it might be his best post GbV record, topping FaCE. Followed by Planets, Brown Sub, then Our Cubehouse Rocks. "Let it Beard", a two-disc concept record is next.

....easily.

Even the most casual of listeners on this board who can only stand the GbV greatest hits package 'Human Amusements' would dig the shit out of this rockin best-of.

Thanks for the tunes, Mark!
DLed, gave it a listen and, while it's pretty good... it just doesn't have the hooks of the best GBV stuff.
Still, I'm a gonna listen to it again and see if any of it sticks.

When it comes to Pollard, I try not to base anything off of one listen. That said, while there are an abundant amount of hooks all over this collection, it's hard to compare anything to B1000 or Alien Lanes.
