I'm enduring about Day 9 of a bout with bronchitis but am coming out the other side I think.

I'm at work riding out the rest of the day and drinking this:

Which is going down like gangbusters.

Only things on the agenda this weekend are rest, a trip to Costco, and maybe see Super 8.

Main focus is to get back to 100%.

Sup?

I rarely drink sodas, but usually go with the Sunkist or Boylans if I'm in the mood for orange, and that's typically in warm weather.

I used to like Orangina a lot but I'd say damn near 99% of my beverage consumption now is either coffee or alcohol.

Saturday: BBQ for Breakfast. Going to Snow's BBQ, ranked #1 by Texas Monthly. Doors open at 8:00 am and they are open until they run out, often by noon. It's 80 miles away, so meat coma by 10:00!

Everything pretty much revolved around my+friend's joint 69th birthday party (I'm 36, he's 33) at his house.

Friday - Saw some friends performed in a pretty bad pantomime. Back to mine to pick up Xbox and Rock Band stuff. Dropped off said gear. Crashed at girlfriend's (aka Hello Nurse) place.

Saturday - Up early to shop for party food/bevvies. Dropped off shopping. Afternoon school fête featuring the lady's two littleuns (he's 9, she's six). Quick nap before the party, where I ended up scratching my Rock Band 3 disc beyond recognition.

Sunday - Slept in. Shopping for CDs (MMJ, Battles, Explosions in the Sky) and another copy of RB3 (fail). Over to out-laws for Sunday lunch and family dynamics. Wished Papa Nurse a happy Father's Day. Back to party site to clean and pack my gear. More napping at Hello Nurse's before the kids came home and went to bed. Chinese for dinner. "Inside the Actor's Studio" with Ralph Fiennes. Coma.

Monday - Lady drove me back with stuff and is currently napping (has a night shift tonight) while I avoid work.

Sunday night:
Heard (and saw) my name dropped by Brittney Payton (Walter's daughter) on a local TV show called "Chicago's Best". I recommended something called Mike's Bites (fried slices of baked potatoes, topped with Merkt's cheddar and parmesan) for their "best cheese" episode that aired last night.

Friday: Femgar joined me in DC for an awards banquet thing

Saturday: Did the tourist thing for the first time in a long time in DC - Smithsonian American History Museum, National Archives, National Portrait Gallery

Sunday: because of some epic airport failing, ended up having a 5 hour beer drinking session with Busty that ended with him calling me a cab to get back to the failport. Great to see him and Bustette/Lil Busty, even under odd circumstances.

I went up to Two Rivers State Recreation Area for Father's Day this year. My siblings and I stayed in an Old Union Pacific caboose, while my Old Man stayed in his RV. I tried using a Spinner reel for the first time in several years while fishing on the various sand pit ponds, and quickly switched to a an old Zebco Spincaster. It was nice to be able to legally drink and fish at the same time here in Nebraska, but the goddamn Horse flies were merciless this weekend.
I'm just happy I didn't get a nasty sunburn, have to remove any ticks or really deal with a swarm of mosquitoes.

- run charity 5k
- collapse from heat exhaustion mere seconds after crossing the finish line
- spend time in ER watching CNN and getting hydrated

I've probably run 100+ races in my life and this was the first time I ever had my cell phone with me. My friends were all behind me in the race so they wouldn't have known where I was without a call from the EMT. I can't even remember phone numbers when I'm at home in air conditioning.

Nice dude! I thought this couldn't happen. Glad to hear otherwise.

Saw Super 8
It was really excellent entertainment.
Although, I have to say that, in the 2 days since I have seen it, it is not really sticking with me in the way that the best movies do. I don't find myself thinking about the flick much. And, there are also no truly memorable individual scenes that I keep coming back to.
Nonetheless, if you catch a matinee, it's a really good way to kill a couple of hours on a rainy summer afternoon.
