New Legislation Would Ban Sexual Orientation Discrimination

Hard to believe that the State of Texas is just introducing this as law:

Quote:

A new measure introduced in the Texas legislature would add
sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of prohibited
bases of discrimination in employment. The measure, House Bill
143, defines sexual orientation to mean the actual or perceived
status of an individual with respect to his or her sexuality.
Gender identity means the actual or perceived gender of an
individual.

We'll keep you posted as this and other measures of importance to
the workplace wind their way through the legislative process.

Texas has been the source of all of America's problems dating back to the year 2000. Why this bill is even being attempted in the Garden of Eden is beyond me.

if we could get sexual discrimination equated with gender discrimination (discrimination based on sexual stereotypes) then we could get it moved up to intermediate scrutiny and a lot of the government actions that discriminate against homosexuals would be struck down (unless the supreme court radically changes and starts monkeying around with some long-held doctrine).
