LOL His real name

Code:
Rocker Jani Lane has passed away at the age of 47. The former Warrant lead singer, who wrote the '80s glam rock band's hits "Cherry Pie" and "I Saw Red", was found dead at a hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday evening, August 11, TMZ reported.

His body was discovered at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, California. No official cause of death has been released, but he did have a history of alcohol abuse. In 2010, he was ordered to serve 120 days in jail after he was being arrested for DUI for the second time in two years.

Lane, whose real name is John Kennedy Oswald, has separated and reunited with Warrant on several occasions. He temporarily left the band in 1992, before returning in 1994. He left again in January 2004, only to return for a short while in 2008.

The rocker has released one solo album titled "Back Down to One". He made an appearance on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club" in 2005, and served as a stand-in lead singer for Great White on their tour in the summer of 2010.

You know, it really makes you feel like shit when, your first reaction to a celebrity death like this is "Who cares? His music sucked anyway!"
And then you find out that he is a really nice person.

So sorry to hear this. (Not that he was nice, but that he passed.)
And I'm sorry that you lost a friend.

He had his demons and I guess anyone that knew him couldn't be 'so' shocked to see this happen, but we knew it was possible.
Bottom line, it is a human life that was cut short too soon. The fact that I had a actual friendship makes it suck even more. The fact that you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who could say a negative thing about him as a person (sans music), makes it suck even more than that.
Whatchagonnado?

It makes me feel like shit whenever my first reaction to ANYONE's death is some cynical attitude kneejerk reaction. I seem to do it a lot. For instance, I hear about military casualties and sometimes, instead of defaulting to true human compassion, my thoughts focus on the ridiculousness of the war, or I question why we value American lives so much more than Iraqis or Somalians or whoever-the-fuck. Then I remind myself that these are real people, with real families and friends. I remind myself how much of a self-centered asshole I can be. I don't know if it's just the jaded internet world we live in, or if the fact that I even question my own self-involved reaction is progress, somehow. I imagine my grandfather never questioned his gut reactions this way.
