So I'm doing an Elvis party this weekend, I've made a couple of mashups and I have a few favorites to play...however, for the most part, I'm not a huge Elvis fan...

I think Suspicious Minds is one of the greatest songs ever written...but that's about it.

Are there any elvis know it alls on here? any suggestions, album recommendations (or uploads)...

if you aren't a fan than the Number Ones collection would be a good place to start as every song on there is good to great. The Sun Sessions are solid, but from my memory not exactly party music.

Hell, anything from the Sun Records box is going to be pure gold. Not a bad song on there.

All the Sun stuff, his first 2 RCA albums, and Elvis in Memphis would be the list of what I would consider essential Elvis as far as original releases go.

If you are looking for collections, I like the Gold Records volumes, of which I believe there were 4 until a couple more volumes were more recently added. These are all good and will take you deeper than something like the #1s Collection, which is good for a basic single disc thing. The original 4 Golden Hits volumes are collected in a 4 CD box called His Life and Music that I really like.

There's also a new 5CD box called Young Man with a Big Beat that looks really good although I've never heard it.

If you really wanna go all out, there is a 30 disc The Complete Elvis Presley Masters collection out there that is pretty amazing, but really expensive.

OK, I kinda like Elvis.

Dave - you have to do something awesome with An American Trilogy

Along those lines, there's always The King and Eye album of The Residents doing Elvis
