This is fucking great.

Quote:
After months of competition and over 1.5 million votes cast online, the wait is over: The Sheepdogs have become the first unsigned band ever to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone. The Canadian boogie rock revivalists, who have been touring relentlessly throughout North America for six years, beat out 15 other bands for the grand prize, which includes a contract with Atlantic Records along with their faces on the cover of the August 18th issue of the magazine.

The author of the piece on the Sheepdogs annoyed the fuck out of me, but yeah, still play the shit out of the album so I'm glad to see them on top, regardless of their ethnicity.

Lol- touring with Kings Of Leon. Good luck with that!

Edit: Wouldn't have minded seeing Lelia on the cover, tho.

I like the new album. Every song is a little bit of something - Beatles, Stones, CCR, Three Dog Night, Doors, etc.

let's hope they don't end up looking and sounding this in a few years.

I gave it a listen last night. I could almost smell the pot smoke wafting in the air. Back in the late 60's & 70's bands like this were a dime a dozen playing free shows every weekend either at Provo Park in Berkeley or in Golden Gate Park.

Finally getting around to hearing this, and it's not very good. I feel like I'm being put on or something. I guess there are moments, but only a few so far (9 songs in) have been good moments. There's some shitty playing and singing on this, some way-too-deep reverb on the vocals that even Fleet Foxes would've backed up off of, and it just sounds like 60's fetish pap to me. Am I already a cranky old man? It's not offensive, but... the cover of Rolling Stone?

oh, it's total fluff. i don't know anything about the band or their intent but it's gotta be intentionally derivative. I'm not hearing the reverb vocals. I think it's fun!
