Accidentally bought a second copy of this on vinyl, and gave it a listen over the weekend. I wish a couple of Simon solo songs were replaced with S&G songs, but it's still a nice album.

It's not bad. I've only listened to it twice so far and their first one took me awhile to get into so it'll probably be another few weeks before I decide on this one.

That last one is:
Leo Lago - Venturas e desventuras do engenhoso Cavalleiro do Lago
A bedroom musician from Brazil, who tickles that same part of me that digs Tom Zé. Not just because he's Brazilian, but because he's similarly warped.

20 years ago this album blew me away and still does. I was a young, impressionable 12 year old and I picked up a copy of Rolling Stone in the Lake Blackshear Regional Library where I discovered that Fugazi was the "Best Punk Band in America". I immediately took my grass-cutting money and went to my local record store and bought the CD and raced home to subsequently have my mind blown. The opening building tension of "Exit Only" and the release of fast guitar/groovy as fuck bassline of "Reclamation" still gives me that fist in the air, yell out loud feeling I felt 20 years ago. Love this record.

Roy Orbison: The Monument Singles Collection

Some fantastic stuff here, every A & B side Orbison recorded for Monument, which obviously includes his greatest achievements. Now, it is a somewhat pricey 2 disc set, so you have to decide if you're looking for a Roy Orbison collection if you want this or if you'd prefer some other collections that maybe drop a lot of the B-sides and instead include the best of his later work or that tosses in some if his early Sun recordings. Tough call, but for a look at the man at his best, this set shows off his greatest years in fine form. The remastered to original mono mixes are awfully nice here as well.
