I figured me actually starting a thread is as random as it's gonna get.

Michigan had almost as good a weekend, save for the gloriously botched ALDS Game 1. Thanks MLB.

Spartans, Wolverines win, Lions played like goddamn men, and Tigers pull a split in the Bronx.

I'll take it.

For my birthday last week, I got a gift certificate to a local guitar shop (Fender dealer), and then some cash -- to put towards a guitar.
The guitar I have always wanted:

Or, maybe I'll get it in seafoam green.
But that natural wood tone is so damn pretty!

Got some pics that I took a while back published in a German mag, for an article on a California bike frame builder, John Castellanos. Kind of a thrill.

They sent me a copy of the mag, but it's all in German.

http://www.fahrstil-magazin.de/ <------- none of my pics on the site, tho.

Oh, and welcome back, Tania. Hope you can check in a little more often than you have been.

I couldn't find the culinary thread so I guess this fits here:

Laist Wrote:
As a state parole board wrestles with freeing Omaima Aree Nelson, the ex-model who murdered her husband then cooked and ate his body parts, morbid details surrounding the case are expected to resurface.

Nelson, who has been behind bars at California Central Women’s Prison in Chowchilla for 20 years, is asking for early release from her 27-year sentence for the 1991 murder of her husband William E. Nelson, 56. Nelson was an Egyptian model who immigrated to the U.S. in 1986.

Senior Deputy Dist. Atty. Randolph J. Pawloski Wrote:
There were suitcases and plastic bags soaked with dark liquid from his body parts. In the fry cooker there sat Mr. Nelson’s hands and when we opened the refrigerator there was Mr. Nelson’s head with stab wounds. She had his entrails in his Corvette and she was trying to get an ex-boyfriend to yank out the dentures from the head so she could dump it in the Back Bay.

Laist Wrote:
During Nelson's trial, a psychiatrist testified that Nelson wore red shoes, a red hat and red lipstick while spending hours chopping up her husband's body. "'I did his ribs just like in a restaurant,'" the psychiatrist quoted Nelson as saying. Nelson also revealed that as she sat at her kitchen table with her husband’s cooked remains, she said out loud: "'It's so sweet, it's so delicious .... I like mine tender,'" the doctor recalled.

She stole the idea from Microwave Massacre.

I don't know which is more crazy--what she did or that she only got 27 years.

If you think that's crazy, google Ueli Steck. Guy makes every other climber look bad--except maybe Sharma.

Two nights ago I fell asleep with my forehead against a brick wall. My position was such that a degree of pressure was exerted on the area above the brow.

Since waking up in this curious place and posture I've been unable to walk in a straight line and when attempting to do so, veer off clumsily at tangents, often almost falling over in a state of dizzy confusion. Crushing headaches have been almost continuous.

My question is this - if I buy a sextant will this aid my navigation by computing curved direction of travel with destination?
