Dig these a lot as well. I dunno, this may end up being my favorite Obner list this year. I need to look into the stuff on here that I don't know.

It's mostly on here for the first 6 songs. The instrumental stuff is ok but I don't think there's another run of songs on an album that I listened to more this year.

Motor City Drum Ensemble looks really odd in your list.

I can always find at least one or two new albums that I really dig on shiv's year end lists.

Also, I'm not totally sold on this year's Deer Tick album. Especially when the other dude sings.

I dunno why that Dawes clicked with me. I've never heard any of their other albums. Maybe the Middle Brother album had something to do with it.

You mean the guy who sings on Clownin' Around? That's one of my favorite songs on the album.

Yeah, for whatever reason it breaks the flow of the album to have such a different voice. I dunno, I like the album, but something about it is just off to me. I guess there's no "Dirty Dishes" or "Smith Hill" to alternately blow my mind and make me want to blow my brains out this time around. I need that from my Deer Tick.

As for Dawes, I can see where Middle Brother would do that.

It's kind of like the Wilco album for me - I like more than a couple of songs, but the album as a whole falls short when compared with their recent catalog. Still, this one could be a grower.

Yeah I've kinda been wishing they would just rock the fuck out once in awhile but I think they do the country-ish stuff better.

I could have sworn I posted something here about on-and-off with Anna Calvi. Probably was in Patrick's instead. Sorry, boss.

9. Thee Oh Sees – Carrion Crawler/The Dream

I think I missed this one. I really can't remember because they just don't stop cranking them out. Hope its better than Castlevania

It is. Much better.

But I kind of like Castlemania, too.
