I understand anyone who hates/doesn't like them. I resisted liking them mostly because of the stupid way they capitalize their name. But I like the rhythm and Merril has some pipes. Toss in a few catchy melodies and I had to admit to myself that I liked it. I could do without the vocal ticks and the moustache though.

What's your number one like, don't think I've ever heard of them?

I can up them for you. It's punchy guitar driven rock that's meant to just be enjoyed. Nothing challenging but well executed pop songs in my opinion. Has some slight superchunk to pavement quick guitar solos.

That's more or less a description of my number one as well, really well orchestrated pop songs. Interested in hearing it sir.

Anyone else here have Let England Shake up that high? I think it's a really good record, but I'm not getting the #1 placement on acclaimedmusic.net's early returns.

Also: I just heard Girls' "Vomit" for the first time and was blown away.

[iStranger Ballet[/i] made my list but I'll admit my enthusiasm slipped as the year went on.

A few bands in the 10-20 range that keep showing up on lists that I need to check out.

I had a soul crushing 4 -6 months of work that just started to calm down.

Seems like we have more overlap than usual.

That Mikal Cronin album is great. Definitely better than the Ty Segall album which is also very good.

I also really enjoy Tune-Yards in spite of all the superficially annoying things about them. Once I actually listened to the whole album, I found it incredibly easy to like and even somewhat addictive.

that Girls record is pretty good. I gave a somewhat dismissive play-by-play in some thread when it leaked, but find myself wanting to hear it on occasion.

Far less overlap than we've had in the past but a good list nonetheless. I completely spaced The Insomniacs which I played quite a bit much earlier in the year. Also, I was unaware of a new Explosions in The Sky release.

I think I didn't get many recs from the board as I usually do because I haven't been able to read it lately. I noticed a ton of albums on you, billy g, and rads that I never knew about until now. Lot of stuff for me to check out from 11 in 12.

Yeah I'm surprised by your list as well -- I haven't heard barely any of these.
