Let's see if this one can generate as many duplicate threads as the Low album...

I'll probably pick this up just because of the hullabaloo you guys are making about it.

I have Andrew Bird's last album and while it's good I can't honestly say I listen to it to often, so I'll be expecting something more this time.

I, too, was underwhelmed by Weather Systems. This is much better.

It's not a hit-you-in-the-face album, but it's complex and the songs are so damned cool.

But then I think the Decemberists are cool, so whatever.

The Gluttonous Consumption of Bacon. Excellent.

Great album, too.

Great review.

I need to listen to this more but for Kon's benefit, I'll give a dissenting voice. Not that its bad, but I have 4 Andrew Bird albums and so far the new one's my least favorite.

Maybe it'll grow on me. Weather Systems did in spades.

I placed some mics on this album. I also carried some gear to and from his vehicle. Oh yeah, i wrapped some cables, made some coffee runs, etc...

It was alot of fun to be around this session. He was very gracious to the staff.

I'd be a dawg for her, or whatever else she wanted me to be. Seriously.

Is she British? Because, if so, she could be referred to as Bird's bird.

I was quite impressed with this on first lesson. Enough slow stuff, enough hooks, enough everything to keep me interested. I see this album getting muchos play over the next few weeks. Thanks FT!!

Yeah, I think this album deserves more than one thread. Good on first listen, AND it's growing on me, which is a good sign. Good use of violins -- just enough to add some depth to the songs, without being too overbearing. I think that some of the songs could rock a bit harder. For instance, I think the guitar lick in the chorus of opposite day should be more prominent. Still, great album.

Jeezus, I don't think it's technically possible for a 45 yr old to be a part of an "indie-hipster backlash" (let alone lead one). All I know is if everybody likes it, chances are it sucks unwashed ballsack.

I think the first 4 tracks are just great. I think the album should have ended after track 13 and not gone on to that Birthday song. Blegh, it's boring. But I like the album as a whole. It will make a 2005 favorite list. But, I doubt it will be #1...

I'm loving the new album. Just saw him play most of it last Thursday. Much better then the first time I saw him open for the Magnetic Fields.
