HOW THE HELL DID I MISS THIS?

Quote:
From the shifting faultlines of Hollywood fantasies and the economic and racial tensions of Reagan's America, Fishbone rose and became one of the most original bands of the last 25 years. With a blistering combination of punk and funk they demolished the walls of genre and challenged the racial stereotypes and the political order of the music industry and of the nation. EVERYDAY SUNSHINE is about music, history, fear, courage and funking on the one.

Has anyone seen this?
Impressions?
I loved this band back in the late 80's and early 90's. And, around that time, they were, in fact, the GREATEST live band in the world. I can attest to that fact firsthand.

Dug Fishbone back in the day.

When that controversy with the Roots happened, I pulled out a few of their records. Good stuff. Wished I could have seen them in their heyday. Angelo went solo for a little bit--is he still doing that?

I always remember the rumor that John Cusack was really playing Fishbone on the radio in "Say Anything" instead of Peter Gabriel, but Cameron Crowe wanted a different feel and added in Peter Gabriel (can't say I disagree--iconic).

I can remember being 12 years old, my brother sneaking me out of my house with some story to my mom about how he was going to take me to some batting cages or go-carts or something, and him taking me to see Fishbone instead. Blew my barely adolescent mind, and serves as further proof that I have the raddest brother of all time.

I still listen to these guys almost weekly, and knew nothing about this flick, but will certainly try to track it down now. Thanks for the heads up on this.

I listened to the first full length in the past two weeks (but still prefer the first EP). Great band. I saw them open for the Beastie Boys in high school.

I did read a glowing review of that documentary, but got the impression it had more to do with what happened to them in the 90s then their start, etc. (although my impression from the review could be totally off base), which dampered my enthusiasm for it a bit.

I remember seeing them open for Primus in, I think, '91. Some kid climbed the lighting truss; they had to stop the show and he almost got his ass beat by Angelo and the dudes in FB. Funny shit.
