What's your take on the new record, Dale?

You'll get no argument from me.

Wierd, that talk last week about their new stuff vs classics had me googling this song specifically right away. Some good live versions on the tubes. In 81 it was tight and dark, everybody was skinny and serious. That drop tuning and tight crunch sound fucking menacing. By 83 it was glam outfits and jumps and pudgy faces but still good, and in the 2000's Dave just can't stop with that big creepy smile.

It's the fucked up haircut that always got me. Hard to go from a dude known for your hair to going bald.

I'm still kind of shocked at how much I like it.

Van Halen I is their "best" album, but Fair Warning is their most dangerous - and my personal favorite.

I think it was Fargo Rock City when Klosterman implied 'Fair Warning' was Eddie van Halen's response/homage to fellow Warner Brothers Records act Gang of Four. Which, I suppose, means we can also blame Van Halen for the Rapture.

You know, I haven't listened to VH for a while. That happens periodically, and when it does, I am always surprised at just HOW AWESOME Eddie's guitar playing is. I mean, I always kinda know it and take it for granted, but then when I actually listen, I am blown away all over again. I mean, fuuuuccckkkkkk.
