Another monster of musical influence is gone. Sleep well, sir.

Yup, this one is hitting me kinda hard right now. My resurgence in listening to massive amounts of bluegrass of late, owes nothing but a great debt to the man. His revolutionary style changed everything.

RIP.

I tried to learn how to play Scruggs-style banjo, to no avail. Just couldn't do it.
R.I.P., sir.
:(

A great article by Steve Martin on Scruggs from January.

Spotify playlist encapsulating Scruggs' career

Saw this. Very sad, but at least he lived a good while.

The man is on the Mount Rushmore of Bluegrass with Lester Flatt and Bill Monroe.

"Foggy Mountain Breakdown" is fucking bedrock.

The house band upstairs just got their banjo player.

RIP.

Amen to that.

This broadcast of his tribute at the Ryman is absolutely amazing.

*edit* this is going to be archived on WSM's website sometime early next week. Definitely worth a listen. Ricky Skaggs, Bela, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Marty Stuart, John McEuen, Del McCoury, Patti Loveless, The Whites, and others.

The Tennessean article about the event made it sound like there were seats available. Man, I thought that it would've been packed out completely since it was open to the public.
