I just listened to their second record: Cereal Killers.
Good hooks.
Decent harmonies.
And some funny fucking lyrics.

lyrical sample:
All the girls in the music biz
Have credit cards and subscribe to Ms.
(something, something)
But they only wanna fuck
Long Haired guys from england
Long haired guys from the United Kingdom...

Just like the guy from Midnight Oil
Except he's bald and from Australia

Some good stuff there.

Plus, you gotta give 'em props for calling their debut
Son Of SamIAm

I think that was the Judybats.

TMJ's a Top 10 band for me - I loved those guys. Actually, their debut was called Green Eggs And Crack ..."Sam" was their first on a major-ish label.

Their "comeback" album "Finally" is really, really underrated. All their records have some great high spots, uneven as they could be. And they were really good live.

You can get a spin-off CD ( it's really 75 % of the band, with occasional help from TMJ singer Tim Quirk ) called "The It's" from their website (sayhername.com)that the power pop people around here would like.

No problem...actually, I ran across someone on a mailing list I'm on last week that went to high school with TMJ.

And for having a hidden track on that Album called "Train In Vain", and singing about the Mekons. Their stuff hasn't aged that well, but man did I ever love them 15 years ago.
