Tangerine Dream: Phaedra

With the plethora of newer synth music coming out these days, I hope everyone is still taking a listening to the old timers who pioneered this stuff. This album is an excellent example of early ambient synths.

Kruder & Dorfmeister: G-Stoned

Yup, it is sounding all 90s up in here. This is the EP where the guys who made their careers doing remixes of other tracks did a few original songs. And damn, it seems a shame they did not do more of this. Sure, as Peace Orchestra and Tosca they both have continued to put out plenty of material, but not much as a duo outside the odd track here or there. If you're at all into the trip hop sounds of back then, this is about as good as it gets.

I went to primary school with a home knitted 'school bag' and patched up trousers yet for some reason my dad had at least two copies of every Tangerine Dream album.

I guess he had his priorities.

This makes me willing to bet there was at least one other thing that immediately comes to mind that your old man spent his money on.

Macy Gray: Covered

I like Macy Gray, still play her debut from time to time, love her raspy voice and I Try is one of my favorite songs of its era. I even liked the followup quite a lot and have enjoyed the bits and pieces I have heard since. So I wanted to like this. But yeah, an all covers album. Mediocre song selection and she seems to mostly be on autopilot here. I don't think I'll get to the end of this before I turn it off. Seems a shame.
