I seem to remember Popper losing a bunch of weight or something and playing misfits covers with Metallica, but hey perhaps it was atkins and he keeled over regardless. and if he's alive, i guess i just assume he'd be doing something, what with being the second best harmonica player alive and whatnot. Maybe he just owns a gun range now or something.

The sight / sound of DJ Logic and John Popper trading licks last Wednesday night is something that I'll never forget - pretty unbelievable.

He had his stomach stapled, apparently, and is now pretty normal sized. I hear that he's put on some weight from his lowest point, but he was really looking pretty good when I saw him. He's a pretty big (tall) guy to begin with, before all that fat he used to carry around.

His bassist died of a drug overdose in New Orleans about half a decade back. Then his guitarist's brother started filling in on bass.

Those guys usually spend a month or so in the summer here in Austin and rent a practice space to just jam for a while.

Some friends of mine had the space next to theirs last summer -- nice fellows. . .
