Padang Food Tigers: Ready Country Nimbus

I saw this referred to as ambient folk, which sounds about right. Banjo, field recordings and sparse instrumentation. Seems a little unfinished at points, especially as some songs end abruptly. Can't decide if that is part of its charm or a downside. Nice vinyl pressing if a bit short. Bathetic Records seems to take good care with their stuff. Probably will serve me well on those insomniac nights or too early mornings.

Vlonde: Rattus Norvegicus

Short tape with some experimental noise mixed with industrial drum machine beats. I'm not wild about the vocals, but I do dig the music quite a lot. Free download at Bandcamp and the tape is really nicely made, sounds and looks good.

It was ok. I'll listen again. I really like Chris Stamey, so to me, this is just another way to hear his songs. The thing is, if I heard this and had never heard their 80s output, I probably wouldn't seek it out. Its not an abomination like the Iggy+Stooges reunion albums, but it certainly isn't going to prompt any resurgence in their career, imo.
