Hopefully they'll back off a bit after the LSU game.

ESPN and EA sports simulated the upcoming season and had my Huskers losing to Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
I'd take those results right now, especially since that would mean winning the Big Ten in their first year of conference play.
I'm expecting a QB controversy to arise here in the fall, and can't wait to see Nebraska play eleven opponents they didn't face last year.

I'll be pulling for the Huskers to win the Big 10 FWIW. In fact, I hope the Pellini Boys cause Joe Pa to die on the field.

Some real Greaseball shit.

I might have to find some folks flying a PJ to College Station and not take FEMGAR just because I can. Lol.

 There are, there is one right here - there are plenty of perfectly polite and accommodating Duck fans

And while there are certainly plenty of annoying ducks fans as well, I'd gladly take the most annoying Duck fan who can at least admit and embrace that they are annoying over some of the Husky fans that I've encountered (present company excluded) who like to talk about tradition and class and yet pull stuff that is as bad or worse as the Duck fans. Can't we just all admit that there are bad fans of just about every team out there??

As for Rodney's original quote, what can I say - he's a Beaver fan and even the most seemingly sane Beaver fans have a special kind of insane hatred for the Ducks given the success that the Ducks have had lately. Which is too bad, I pull for the Beavers when they aren't playing the Ducks (Heck, I even pull for the Huskies a lot of the time.) Like I said, I could just do without the hypocrisy from some of the fans.

Been saying this 2000 when people were preaching the death of the program. Hell, if Pellini and Co. do it this year, at least it will be Penn State's home field.

Also have 'Bama, Iowa, and Illinois at home. Ohio State and Wisconsin away. Not expecting much this year, but we'll see.

Chrome and Doc Marco - my Auburn friends were astonished at how easy going and laid back the Ducks supporters in Arizona were this January.

Of course, a lot of people think they're really into college football and then encounter SEC fans...

Wait until Oregon fans meet LSU fans in Dallas. We'll make the worst duck fans look like the picture of class.

Texas A&M, and allegedly Oklahoma, are pissed about the Longhorn Network and are having second thoughts about sticking in the Big 12 conference. A&M seems to be exploring their options, despite the fact the Longhorn Network has decided not to air high school football games or a Big 12 conference game.
Mike Slive has refused to rule out SEC expansion, while the Big 12 commissioner doesn't expect to see a repeat of A&M flirting with the SEC.

Just messin' with ya Chrome. I realize there are one or two decent UO fans out there ;)

I'm going to two away Husky games this year--@ Utah and @ Nebraska. I've heard very good things about the Husker fans but am a little worried about that Ute game. I've got BYU and TCU friends who have felt threatened at Rice Eccles if wearing school colors.

I was surprised last time that a&m didnt jump to the sec. It's more of a natural fit. But I don't think the sec wants to look like aggressors. I think the schools got caught up in keeping the conference together instead of thinking about what was best for them.

Slive is part businessman and part politician. He rules out nothing. He's helped make the SEC the most powerful conference in the country but I find him to be a totally unlikeable human being.

He's used SEC media days this week to propose all these wholesale changes, most of which the coaches do not support, and make statements about the state of college football, etc. etc. It's all just PR bullshit. College football is no dirtier than it was 10, 20, 30 years ago. Just more publicized and more access.

His wishy-washyness on a playoff system also infuriates me to no end.

I'm sure most of the threats directed toward TCU fans has to do with the ingrained inferiority complex amongst Ute fans. The Holy War with BYU seems to bring out the worst from fans of both schools according to my craft beer friend who was raised in SLC. There seems to be an immense amount of overt loathing in that rivalry, and the Ute fans seem to prefer annihilating a weak BYU team to ruining a successful season for the Cougars.

BTW, Have you heard anything about how many UDub fans are coming to Lincoln?

a&m would be a better fit for the sec culturally (intense tradition, rabidly loyal fanbase, etc.), but they can't and would never be able to compete with them athletically

and i like a&m - my dad got his undergrad there - but they don't recruit the elite level of talent seen in the sec

a&m would just be mississippi state west

I'm not sure on the number but they've sold out their entire allotment given by Nebraska. How many is that typically?

I semi-agree with you. But I think their recruiting would improve if they're out of UT's shadow. Also, LSU recruits well in East Texas mainly by selling "you can play in the SEC" to kids. Right now, I think recruits look it as why should I go to A&M when I can stay in Texas, live in Austin as opposed to College Station, and play at the best school in the Big XII.

In the SEC, I think the dynamic changes a little.

I believe it is usually around 3,000 tickets, but it might have went up since they expanded the stadium a few years back.
I know the visitors usually sit in or near the South Endzone, since I have picked up tickets to games in the past when an opponent doesn't sell out their alottment.
I'm curious to see how many left coast Husker fans bought tickets from both Fresno State and Washington for the games in Lincoln.

My buddy who is getting us the tickets attended Nebraska and all his in-laws live in Omaha (we're staying with them) so I suspect I'll be a speck of purple in a sea of red at that game. I'm hoping the NU fans are hospitable.
