Yesterday, I listened to Centro-Matic's Love You Just The Same in its entirety for the first time in several years, and it was WAY better than I remembered.


I never thought it was bad or anything, I just didn't recall it being THAT good.


Anyone else experienced something similar with another record you hadn't heard in quite some time?

Within my tastes, music in general is on a downward trajectory. What I guess I really mean is that, yes, this happens to me all the time.

When I was 13 or 14 I heard the Clash for the first time. At that point I was listening to lots of Nirvana and other noisy bands, so when I London Calling or a Ramones album I thought it sounded really tame and boring. When I was 17 or 18 I started listening to it again, and now I love the Clash. That's the only time that I can think of that this has happened, but the opposite has happened quite a lot more. There are lots of things that I listened to when I was younger, that now I almost never do, or when I hear it again I think well this is not bad, but why did I love this so much 5 years ago.
