I don't have time or the desire to make an album list, so I'm just going to list my favourite music-related experiences of 2012.
1. Refused. Fuck me that was a good show.
2. Sled Island 2012: I saw Reigning Sound, Thurston Moore, Archers Of Loaf, and twenty other great bands. The highlight was seeing Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet do a one-off reunion show, with Dallas Good of the Sadies on bass.
3. New Godspeed You! Black Emperor record. If I did make a list I don't know if it would make #1 but it was definitely the most surprising, and welcome, release of the year. Now I just have to see them live.
4. Sloan's Twice Removed tour. My favourite Canadian band playing their best record in its entirety. I loved the jumpsuits the crew wore:
Chris Murphy came up to us while we were waiting to get in and asked us where he could get some sushi. Rock stars are just like the rest of us!
5. The metal band Ghost, who opened up for Mastodon. I don't really like their music except for this one song, but their costumes are awesome.
