The top 5 are solid. The rest is a rough order. Overall, a pretty good, but not great, year for me.

Father John Misty - Fear Fun
John Murry - The Graceless Age
Lower Dens - Nootropics
Porcelain Raft - Strange Weekend
Foxygen - Take the Kids Off Broadway
My Jerusalem - Preachers
Perfume Genius - Put Your Back N 2 It
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - Mature Themes
Divine Fits - A Thing Called Divine Fits
The Walkmen - Heaven
New Multitudes - New Multitudes
Bap Kennedy - The Sailor's Revenge
Woods - Bend Beyond
Dan Deacon - America
Chromatics - Kill For Love
Parquet Courts - Light Up Gold
Future of the Left - The Plot Against Common Sense
Merchandise - Children of Desire
Nude Beach - II
DIIV - Oshin

It's technically an e.p., but at 7 songs/37min, it's longer than a few albums on the list.

Their full length comes out in February. It's pretty solid, but so far I'm not enjoying it as much as this e.p. I'll have to give it some more time.

I really like the full length. Didn't realize it's technically a '13 release though.

Top 3 on mine as well. Hard to describe, suggests 80s gloomy synth pop as much as smooth 'muricana. Pretty great though.

Don't get me wrong. I'm liking the full length quite a bit---No Destruction and On Blue Mountain are already SOTY candidates :) I've only heard it a few times though. It's much more linear and less unpredictable than the e.p.? I don't know--I suck at describing music and why I like or dislike it. Both of these are strong, though.

outside of Ashely, it's basically the Twilight Singers / Afghan Whigs 2013 touring lineup) - Dulli.

*cue anti- Dulli/Whigs remark here*

never got around to checking the record out, shocking due to it's lineup, but it's now all cued up on Spotify for tonight...

nice to see perfume genius on there. i think it'll definitely be in my top 10.

that future of the left was really disappointing though. i feel like kelson was the glue holding them together.

For me, Falkous is the glue, and he still brings it live. But yeah, this is my least favorite McLusky/FotL album, but still sneaks into my top 20.

Really late to the game on Foxygen, but I like that one a lot.

Good list. We have some overlap.

I just listened to the new Future of the Left
Complete garbage
Apparently the old bassist was the backbone of the band.

I liked the last EP, but this full-length is just too samey for me.

Glad to see you edited your original post. No need to get personal.

Anyway, while I agree this isn't nearly their best, to say it's all shit seems like hyperbole. If you want other references, do a metacritic search. I think you'll find it was pretty favorably reviewed. Or don't. To each his own.

I don't need to read others' incentivised opinions to find security in my own/I stopped drinking Kool-aid when I was 11.
It's music, a record, not a peer-reviewed journal.
I own all the other Mclusky/FOTL material.
I listened to 2/3 of the new album and turned it off after being utterly disappointed.
I'm not gonna try to "Pete Carroll" you and tell you there were redeeming qualities about this record
It was complete shit.

Way to get a jab at Pete Carroll in there. You "Jim Harbaugh'd" me instead. Nicely done.

I'll take the Harbaugh comment as a compliment.

I'm trying to listen to this FOTL shit show album again.
The production and song writing is....cringeworthy.
Pro Tools and peanut butter crank.
A dead outline of its former self in 10 songs or less comprised of over-compression and forced lyricism.
No longer the same band. Now just a featured blowhard and a set of tits.
