Honestly, the first time I listened to this my reaction was, simply, WTF! After a few more listens, I'm beginning to like it. Julian is almost completely falsetto here, which is a bit unusual. I think that he pulls it off pretty well, though. Also, the synth line is almost a direct rip from a-ha's "Take On Me", but it's not necessarily a bad thing. I think this thing is gonna be pretty polarizing if the whole album is like this.

I don't mind the vocals, but the simplistic backing is built for about three listens, max. Or maybe it just sounds more interesting on bath salts. Also, it's seems a bit gratuitous to toss in a standard Strokes geetar solo in the middle of a boppy synth ditty.

Yep, I agree about that gratuitous part. Also, would've been better if a minute or so shorter.

My first impression was the A-Ha thing as well.

And, this is dogshit.

For the first two minutes I was sure I hated it, and during the last two I almost convinced myself I liked it. I'm still really looking forward to the album.

Ghostwriter talent jumped ship two albums ago.
Time for this band to pony up and shell out the cash to re-create the album written by Bowersock.

You might think it's a Matthew Sweet covers album, but it's really just the new, keyboard-drenched Strokes album...

1% Fun.

I just want to reiterate how shitty that song was. 1 short post doesn't really cover it. They earned two.

it's the opposite of polarizing.
unless we are polarized on HOW shitty it is.

This song isn't terrible.

Then again, Is This It? wasn't really a masterpiece.

Can we finally admit that this band was always sort of bullshit? They were able to cop the right sound and attitude when they were kids and quickly lost that ability as they got older.

Certainly benefited from right time, right place, right sound but I actually do think "Is This It?" is brilliant. Worth the hype IMO.

Room on Fire and First Impressions were about half good.

This new song sounds like a song used for a wacky montage in some bad 80's teen flick.

oof

I've gotten two minutes in on two different tries, so I guess that counts as one play.
