Dammit, Daugn Gibson remains my biggest oversight of 2012. I need to get on that. That track is great.

Lorn seems pretty cool, too.

Awesome to see Tyvek, Dope Body, The Soft Moon, and METZ on your list.

Good stuff.

Yeah, I had forgotten about the Daughn Gibson until I saw it on someone's list a couple weeks ago and then proceeded to listen to it constantly for about a week.

I think I liked Lorn's previous album more but this one is still quite good.

I had to make a last minute revision with The Men album. Totally didn't have it on my list. I think it bumped either the Pallbearer or Fergus & Geronimo albums.

not much crossover other than Tame Impala...but based on that Sharon Van Etten track i've decided to give her new album a go. much better than expected given my thoughts on her previous albums. is this an incredible step up for her or do i need to go back and re-visit those old ones?

also, that is NOT what i expected Cloud Nothings to sound like. for whatever reason i thought they were "chillwave".

This seems a really balanced list... catholic taste and good judgement. The video for your #1 is kinda creepy, and the music thins out too. The Sharon Von Etten just didn't work for me... the Bat for Lashes just kept getting better and better.

The old Goo Goo Dolls records make the Japandroids look like calculated chumps.

I would say:

Download the Goo Dolls discography and you'll have your entire musical dumb pop rock compass filled by immediacy.
It just makes me queasy to think that the Japandroids are anything but a bad drum-driven version of the Goo Goo Dolls
