having never been to one before, i am especially excited over this year's lineup, joke pop-punk bands (and jimmie's chicken shack) aside. they're pretty much a given at a radio festival. i've wanted to see foo fighters and social distortion since i was 13, and they might be giants puts on one of the most enjoyable shows around. this has the potential to be a $40 drunken good time (plus surcharges).

lifted off hfstival.com:

HFStival 2005 will be held in Baltimore at M&T Stadium on May 14th!

This years 2005 HFStival Line Up (so far):
Billy Idol
Sum 41
Social Distortion
Garbage
Foo Fighters
Good Charlotte
Coldplay
The Bravery
Citizen Cope
Jimmies Chicken Shack
New York Dolls
Unwritten Law
They Might Be Giants
Louis XIV
Echo and the Bunnymen
Interpol
The Stereophonics

Trancemission's Tent Featuring:
Crystal Method
DJ Rap

Pretty big deal to get a Coldplay show, I'd say.

Excise Good Charlotte and Sum 41, and that Chicken band and you'd be in pretty good shape.

I saw Billy Idol last week, and it was indeed drunken fun. He is self-parody defined.

oh yeah i should have mentioned that as of some point recently, hfs broadcasts during nights and weekends on live 105.7 out of baltimore, and apparently 24/7 online. not a bad deal. plus the afternoon guys are pretty funny.

from the hfstival.com forums, these are the lineups of the shows i went to:

1993
INXS, Iggy Pop, Ned's Automic Dustbin, Stereo MCs, Belly, Matthew Sweet, X, Velocity Girl.

1994
Cracker, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Meat Puppets, Counting Crows, James, Pavement, Rollins Band, Violent Femmes, Afghan Whigs, Gigolo Aunts, Tuscadero, Greenberry Woods, Lotion, Madder Rose, Edsel

i missed 1995

1996
Garbage, Cracker, Goldfinger, Foo Fighters, Afghan Whigs, Presidents Of The United States Of America, Everclear, No Doubt, Gin Blossoms, Lush, Jawbox, Fred Schneider, Girls Against Boys, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Dishwalla, Guided By Voices, Solution A.D., Howlin' Maggie, Gravity Kills

my first one was 1992, back when it was held in fairfax, va. i only remember charlatans (still have my shirt...pre charlatans uk bs), catherine wheel and soup dragons...but according to that site, they might be giants and too much joy played as well.

Please, Bravery... think of Tony Danza.

Stumbled into their in-store last month. First song wasn't too bad. Left during the second one, though.
