OK, I bought some sand to use in my fish tank and after soaking it in water for 2 weeks, I put it in my tank. The problem is, a lot of the sand is clumping and rising to the surface of the tank. I can't start my filter until I remedy this situation. I know some of you have had fish so I was wondering if anyone would have any idea of what to do.

You didn't buy the Fresh Step aquarium sand, did you?

when i had sand in my tank i don't remember having this problem. i do remember i had to wait forever, like a week or something, for the sand to settle enough to start the filter.

Can you skim out the floaters?

Drill a hole in that substrate and tell me what you see.
