Found a full hour-long clip of Carl and friends (Dave Edmonds, Clapton, Harrison, Ringo, others) in concert in London, 1985, that is some fantastic viewing.

I find it so interesting on two very divergent fronts... the awful 80's look and sound (shoulder pads, perms, chorus pedals), and yet very good performances that are very much worth seeing. Clapton's voice in particular sounds fantastic here for some reason. I guess this was in the full swing of "After Midnight Beer Commercial" time for him. Somehow Clapton managed to participate in the fashion trends of each decade without looking incredibly stupid in hindsight.

Anywho.

Carl's hair alone is worth a look.

Cool. Reminds me of this thing I used to have this on cassette, I should see if I could dig it out somewhere.

It's one of those new/old/tribute albums with Carl playing with John Fogerty, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and all of the Beatles (although the Lennon track is just an old cover). Jerry Lee Lewis did a similar project a decade later called Last Man Standing.

Well, to be fair, Carl had a suitcase full of hair with as many different looks as you could ever want.

I saw this when it first aired in the 80s and I was obsessed with Clapton. Listening now and it's still great.
