How do you like that Tristen record?
I really enjoy her last one and she was great when I saw her opening for Justin Townes Earle.

I dig it. I love her voice. It has poppy synthy production (although not glossy). I recommend if you dig that kind of thing

So I'm officially lame as fuck. I skipped QOTSA w/ Savages and Fuzz last night in Nashville. Vampire Weekend was playing too, but I'm not upset about missing that one.

Savages suck so you shouldn't feel too bad.

QOTSA would have been fun, though.

You still go to more show than just about anyone I'm friends with. That said, QOTSA were awesome at Music Midtown.

NP:

Yuck - Glow and Behold

So many reviews are hung up on name checking and spotting the influence with this band. They can't get past it. I dig the hell out of this and it makes me long for those halcyon days of 1991. In the best way possible.

I really like the first album, but I tend to get hung up on playing "spot the influences" too. It does distract me from the songs, themselves and that makes me feel like I don't really need to get anything else from the band. Unless... is it a little less apparent on this album? Sounds not, by what you said.
Again: I like them, I just find the obvious sound-copping a bit distracting. I'll listen again today, though and try to get past it. I do enjoy the listen.
