No Age – An Object
If the Drive By Truckers made the perfect album this would be it.

Spray Paint – s/t & Rodeo Songs
Minimalist Spoon albums

Thee Oh Sees – Floating Coffin
Rush meets awesome

His Electro Blue Voice – Ruthless Sperm
Sounds like a goth dude that gave birth to a crack baby

Blind Shake – Key to a False Door
Everything great about The National

Mind Spiders – Inhumanistic
Sting on ecstacy

Parquet Courts – Light Up Gold
Perfect set of tits on this one

Animal Lover – Fundango
Divorce rock

Bassholes – Boogieman Stew
The soundtrack to a crashing plane

Night Marchers – Allez, Allez
Kings of the Stone Age

Those one-line descriptors are pretty great.

Keep forgetting they put out an album last year. Need to check it out.

The Drive By Truckers comparison is worrying though.

I kind of stumbled onto this one, but I like it. Don't know shit about the band.

i wrote a micro review of my own on it that was something about Black Randy from Metrosquad and Stephen Malkmus racing go-karts.

I like but don't love the Parquet Courts record(s). I think if I saw them live it would push me over the edge but on record there is something just a little sterile or forced or soulless that holds me back.

I guess I'll be the contrarian and say The Parquet Courts sucks a bag of dicks. But WHO CARES, MAY 2012.

On the other side It's very cool that you dig The mighty Bassholes &the exciting Spray paint who had a really solid year.

I felt the Night Marchers were a big ball of energy that just didn't go anywhere. The less said about Oh Shees the better.

That à la Malkmus delivery is part of their schtick and, for me, part of the appeal.

Malkmus is Van Morrison compared to them though in terms of singing ability and that's really saying something. What they do is more Spiral Stairs than Malkmus anyways.

I really need to go see them live I think because I'm pretty sure the elements are there.

"What they do is more Spiral Stairs than Malkmus anyways." one of the meaner reviews I've ever read and I like SS.

As a No Age fan, the fact that I had NO CLUE they put out a new album this year is worrying. Speaks to terrible promotion from their label.

I think the band decided to do a lot of their own "promotion". They hand assembled all several thousand of their records in a uniquely folded sleeve which included their signatures and an insert of their own artwork.
An Object is definitely a grower with a lot of layered content. Every time I listen to the album, I hear something new.
Maybe it's just proximity, but thus far it's my favorite No Age album.

I'm the same way. Descriptions suggested they'd be right in my wheelhouse, but yet again I'm left scratching my head in bewilderment. Not writing them off entirely, but definitely taking a "we'll see" stance on it.

Not fully developed, uneven, and the coarse black hairs on the areaolae have been shaved rather than plucked.

Only when describing DEM TIGGIES. Not for music. But, hey, it's your metaphor.

Although not original,

The 2013 Albini mix of In Utero is worth exploring.
The mixing is stellar. Buried guitar parts and alternative takes are now made audible.
It sounds like a different, more raucous record that tears off some serious tits and does justice to this suicide note.
