I recently moved to Toronto, and have had a chance to check out some great local acts. But my favourite by far has to be these guys:

They fly pretty low on the radar, mostly because I think the members are all quite busy with other bands and projects (the guitarists are both artists of note, and one of them is also in The Weakerthans). But they've got something special happening when they get together. Both the EPs above are fantastic, and their live sets are great, ramshackle rock 'n' roll fun.

I can't really hit the nail on the head as far as a comparison, but I would throw Pavement, The Flaming Lips and Firehose in the RIYL for sure.
