My future wife and I used to watch The Young Ones when it was on MTV. One of the best comedies ever. RIP.

As I've said elsewhere on the internet The Young Ones was a genuine sea change in comedy along with The Goons and Monty Python.

He did more besides that might not be as well known outside the UK - Bottom, The New Statesman, Comic Strip etc..
