I've been trying to stick to tea at work. I'm generally a cola junkie, but i'm trying to curb that habit as much as possible. Also, I don't care much for coffee.

I'm really pretty much a rube when it comes to tea. I've been drinking green tea and a couple of different chai teas. I've generally just been buying from the limited selection at the grocery store near my office. So, the green tea is a fairly hippy-ish looking organic thing. I had a nice Chai selection that I received as a gift, but when that ran out, I started buying the Tetley ones at the grocery. They used to carry a Tetley Vanilla Bean Black Chai that was really quite tasty. But I can't seem to find that anymore, so I've been getting their straight chai. This week I tried the Dark Chocolate Chai. Not bad. But I can't help but think there must be some kickass flavors at these busy boutique tea shops and tea chains I see at the mall everywhere these days. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't really want to get into the whole loose tea / tea ball thing. And to quote David Letterman, I don't like to "monkey" with it. No sugar or milk or anything.

For iced tea, I really like Red Rose.
Depending on where you are, you can find it in most grocery stores. I know that in Chicago, we can find it just about anywhere, but for a long time it wasn't like that.
Just brew it strong, fill up the glass all the way with ice, and you'll be golden.

But yeah, Red Rose is def. my favorite.
Although, surprisingly, Lipton is pretty damn tasty, too. At least iced.

If you want to drink it hot, I've been into the rooibos -- naturally decaffeinated, but really tasty. Although the flavor is a bit different, so it could take some getting used to.

I'm mainly interested in the hot, caffeinated kinds of tea :)

Okay, I dig this green tea with toasted rice:
http://www.amazon.com/Numi-Organic-Toas ... B000M7OWKK

You can get it at pretty much any Whole Foods. The toasted rice flavor really comes through nicely -- a comforting roast flavor.

(I'm not really a chai fan, so I can't give you any suggestions there.)

That sounds intriguing. I will look for it next time I am in whole foods!

Total addict - 15-20 cups a day.

Probably a snob too... white teas, rare oolongs, pu'erh

I might be a tea snob, but I love the guayusa tea from the Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Runa-Energy-Organ ... nt+guayusa

Tastes amazing

Buy yourself an infuser and open up to the world of looseleaf tea

That oolong is a little out of my price range, but both the white tea and the Runa sound tasty.

I dread getting into the whole infusion scene though. I like to keep things simple and fast in the office.

I hate 'fancy' tea. It's yet another bullshit middle class affectation for people with far too much money and too little sense.

Real tea comes out a teabag and is served in a mug. In the morning it should never be without a life shortening fried breakfast.

Nambarrie is my preferred brand, the Heinz tomato ketchup or Robertsons marmalade of tea, but I wouldn't be prissy about it.

The sun has set on the British Empire, but its mauchit residue is left to filter perceptions and clog arteries.

Only reason he isn't drinking more is because he is in the bathroom taking a piss the rest of the time.

I started making drip coffee at my desk recently, and fuck me, one of those is enough. Rocket fuel.

Believe me, I'll be doing everything in my power to hammer that coffin lid down come September.

Back to tea, I got a massive electricity bill the other day and the only reason for it that I can think of, since I normally only have a laptop and a lamp drawing power, is constant boiling of the kettle.

Tea may have medicinal properties but it can also led to financial disaster and get your electricity cut off.

passed with flying colors. so much fun but I'm exhausted. 2 eight hour days in 90 degree weather in full gear. favorite part was popping that throttle over 2 by 4s. met a lot of nice people.
