It looks like they're going back to independent music exclusively, just in case anyone was turned off by them selling Justin Bieber albums.

I just got an email about this. I wonder what it will actually mean?

It might be nice if the big indie labels like Matador and Merge came back, maybe even Drag City. But I feel like the ship has pretty much sailed as far as emusic being an efficient and affordable way to discover new independent music. I don't see how they will compete with Bandcamp and Spotify (and even Youtube) in that regard unless they radically change their format, and they say they aren't going to.
