So, I've been listening to that Def Leppard covers album, and there is a track on there -- "When I'm Dead and Gone" -- that I just adore.
Searching out the original, and I discover that it's these guys, McGuinness Flint. Never heard of them before.
Looks like their debut album, where this song comes from, is long out of print. But, Amazon does have reasonably priced copies of this compilation:

I KNOW that there are some of you around here who know this band and this music.
Thoughts?
Opinions?

Just found them on Spotify now and am going to check it out.
But, any of y'all's thoughts is aways appreciated/

Oh, and here is the Spotify link to their first album:

After listening, it's pretty good, but not amazing. Honestly, I like the DL version of that song better.
Nonetheless, RIYL: The Band, Brinsley Schwarz, The Humblebums.

I'm a fan. The Capitol Years isn't a best of/greatest hits package, its their first two albums including their debut reissued in their entirety. They do pretty good english country rock, heavily in debt to the sound of the band. The band's namesakes are Tom McGuinness (formerly of the Manfred Mann Group) and Hughie Flint (formerly drummer in John Mayall's band). After those two albums, they had some lineup changes and took the name Coulsen, Dean, McGuinness Flint and released an album of Dylan covers called "Lo and Behold" which is really good. I'm not sure if it's technically correct to call them covers. It was all Dylan written material but none of it was previously recorded. There are a few more albums after that but I've never seen them or heard much about them. I'd assume that they aren't as good but in any case, they don't have the same cult status.

The album was good, but not life-changing or anything.
And, honestly, I kinda liked the Def Leppard version of "When I'm Dead and Gone" a bit better. Something about the harmonies. Or maybe it's that "I heard this version first" thing. Either way, I'm, not proud.
Still, it's pretty great.
