Was looking for Would You Believe? on Spotify and this one came up. Looks like it's from 2001 (per Billy's own site), but it sounds more like 1969. And, apparently, it features Ronnie Lane. It's actually pretty good so far. I can recommend it.

EDIT: As the album progresses it morphs into more of an early/mid 70s Beach Boys kind of sound (minus the harmonies). Still recommended, though.

John Lee Hooker: On the Waterfront

Seems like this one falls in a bit of a gap, after his initial revered classic period, before his mainstreaming with groups like Canned Heat or the later duets of his later days. I've read criticism of the horns on here and that it's one of his weaker efforts, but I really like the sound on here, and this version of I Cover the Waterfront complete with organ and horns is perhaps my favorite, although the stripped down version on Real Folk Blues is pretty stellar as well.

Nina Simone: High Priestess of Soul
Love Nina Simone and along with Nina Simone Sings the Blues, one of my very favorite of hers.
