also, if i counted live albums, Phosphorescent's Live at the Music Hall would probably be my number one.

Love that Ought album, and I've enjoyed Daniel Bachman, Dungen, and Tame Impala. The Kurt Vile, Wilco, and Alabama Shakes albums are decent.

I should probably listen to the Laura Marling album as I really liked her last one a lot.

According to Spotify its my 3rd most played album of the year so yeah, really high for me too.

Surprised by the amount of crossover here. Cheers, j, I guess I need to check out Riley Walker.

Isbell and Barna Howard are our only overlap, but that's probably as much as I've had with anyone's list this year. I thought I might see Bill Fay too somewhere on your list but I guess not. He was down near the bottom of mine so I'm not highly recommending it if you haven't heard it. I checked out that Riley Walker album earlier in the year after seeing it highly rated by some folks on RYM that I somewhat follow but it didn't do that much for me. I could see it being a grower though.

1. Riley Walker - Primrose Green - the late 60's/early 70's British folk scene would be proud.
5. José González - Vestiges & Claws
6. Calexico - Edge of the Sun
8. Leon Bridges - Coming Home
9. Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
20. Meg Baird - Don't Weigh Down The Light - I miss Espers
21. Dungen - Allas Sak - just missed the cut

Nice !

it's not as good as her last - which i think is her best yet - but still strong.

sorry for the misspelling in my original post, had to fix (for all of us) it as it was bugging me. hope you give it some more time bg. his influences are obvious, as mcaputo points out above - bert jansch, tim buckley, john martyn, veedon fleece-era van morrison - but i think there's a freshness to it all as well rather than just imitation.

and while i do love the album, he really gets me with his extended live performances. i love absolutely every second of these 18 minutes:
