Title self explanatory. What are the greatest solo records? One rule: the artist had to be known primarily as working within their former band. In other words, you can't say Van Morrison "Astral Weeks" because he was in Them. He is primarily known for his solo career. Shortlist to get us started: Dennis Wilson - Pacific Ocean Blue GH - All Things Must Pass Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx GZA - Liquid Swords Morrissey - Viva Hate Paul Stanley - s/t Thurston Moore - Psychic Hearts Chris Bell - I Am the Cosmos Donald Fagen - Nightfly Peter Murphy - Deep George Clinton - Computer Games |

Evil Dr. K Wrote: Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs I've been seeing a lot of anti-Syd sentiment lately. I haven't listened to this in its entirety since probably college. I should give it a spin again. timmyjoe42 Wrote: Rhett Miller - The Instigator That's a good one! I might give the edge to The Believer -- even though The Instigator has way more guest stars. PopTodd Wrote: Graham Nash - Songs for Beginners Dang! You reminded me of all the great albums that came out from the various members of CSN. Crosby's If I Could Only Remember My Name is sooo good. |
