It came out last week. In case you don't know who the f he is, he was the lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket and has been part of the same LA singer songwriter community that also includes Jon Brion, Michael Penn, Aimee Mann, and Grant Lee Phillips.

I quite liked his last album but haven't gotten around to picking this up yet. I just read though that his band on the album included Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello & The Attractions) on Drums, Jon Brion on guitars, Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish) and Ben Folds on backup vocals. Strike me intrigued....Anyone heard this yet?

Yes, and it's excellent. Much, much better than his last album, which left me cold and disinterested. Pretty much sticks to late-model Toad for style. A logical and more satisfying follow-up to Dulcinea than Coil was, but uses the slightly more streamlined sound of Coil as a jumping-off point. A real surprise, actually.

Hey, a Glen Toad thread that's gotten this far without any "WTF?" responses.

Cool. Have always liked TTWS. Have only heard Glen's solo work here and there but don't own anything yet.

Wait, is Glen/Toad another artist that I should be ashamed to like? Man, I need to start keeping a list so I avoid making such greivous errors! What is wrong with me? Oh, wait, that's right. I don't care. :D

Nope. Shouldn't be ashamed at all. But Toad fall into the "OMG I can't believe you like Gin Blossoms/Tears For Fears/ELO/Fountains Of Wayne/Squeeze" territory for some people who think anything melodic is dull.
