Why does this happen?

Sometimes artists I'm all mehmehmeh about initially wiggle their way into my brain and I end up a fan.

Why does this happen?

I like the 'meh to great' transition period. It's like a scientist yelling 'Eureka!' or something.

I've been waiting for this to happen with Sleater-Kinney for years now. I've got to where I can go okay, songs like "The Drama You've Been Craving" are akin enough to Throwing Muses-y stuff for me to like, but others I'm still mostly stop with the screeching already, indie-Melissa.

I do this with almost every band that I wind up caring deeply about. If they hit right away with me, they seldom last more than a few years. I think it takes longer for some material to soak in, but as you've seen, it's worth the wait. Like the Senator said about getting rid of discs too hastily... it can surprise you what you used to not enjoy and then one day throw back in on a lark and fall in love with.
