CSI New York is totally weak. Too stiff and not likeable. I was disappointed.

All CSIs are crap. All Jerry Bruckheimer TV shows look and sound the same. Ass-y.

No.

Right.

CSI is Law and Order for people with ADD. Not that L&O is that hard to follow or anything.

And can you seriously tune on to CBS and tell the difference between any CSIs, Without a Trace, or whatever else Bruckheimer has them running? Same dialogue, uninteresting twists, lighting, camera movement and acting.

Bullshit, sir. CSI is a great show, well-acted, with a gruesome sense of humor and one of the best procedural dramas in years.

CSI Miami is nowhere near as good and its style is nothing like CSI. It's worth watching, but pales compared to the original.

As for the Bruckheimer comment, he's only the money man and famous name. He has very little to do with the actual creation of the shows. CSI had three creators/executive producers. Those three have now fanned out to each head up a separate show. There is no "Bruckheimer-ization" whatever on either CSI or CSI New York.

Just sayin'.

The ADD comment is foolish. Why don't you just say you don't like procedural dramas?

Could you condescend a little more, please?

I like all those shows. And, yes, I can tell them all apart just fine, thanks.

Actually, I'm a sucker for procedural dramas. I still don't dig any of these shows. I sometimes watch Without a Trace, though. I'll watch a few minutes and then get curious as to how the show will end. I might hate the exectuation and might actually not like the plot or the characters, but for some reason I need to know how the show ends, even if I find it disturbingly hackneyed.

The only full episode of CSI I watched basically followed the plot of "Midnight on the Orient Express", which CBS had aired as a TV movie months before, so their writers immediately came off as being unoriginal.

So, am I the only person that thinks it is lame for a TV show to show an extreme close up of an eyelash (combined with some dramatic sound effect) in order to make forensic investigation look cool?

The plot lines of CSI can tend toward the contrived, but the execution is very good. The characters are expertly played, with hints that quite a few of them are extremely odd people, but without spelling out the details of the oddities. And the blood and guts are done in such a way as to be both realistic and kind of okay-I-didn't-really-need-to-see-that amusing.

But, yeah, even William Pedersen says the formula gets irritating for him. There's only so many times you can attempt to imply personality while talking about insect larvae development before you want to drink heavily, I'd imagine.

CSI has some weakneses, but the actors nearly always pull off good shows. That's more to their credit than to the brilliance of the writers. The writing's not always brilliant.

I watched it once and didn't see what all the hype was about. I found it to be a tired rehash of an old urban legend with some of the most godawful dialogue I've ever heard.

My roommate also happens to have a Criminology/Criminal Justice degree and will watch almost anything involving criminology or forensics, and he thinks its terribly oversimplified and overrated.

My wife watches. You either love or hate David Caruso. The one episode I ever saw he spent the entire show with his hands on his hips.

that predictability is definitely one of the withdrawals of law & order. i also don't like when actors are reused. s epatha merkerson was on the show as someone's mother two years before she was suddenly lt van buren. what?!

Jerry Orbach played a lawyer on an early episode.

Dick Wolf likes to use people he knows and respects, plus it's good work for dozens and dozens of NYC character actors.

Kraftwerk's "Aerodynamik" is playing on my Launchcast station at the moment and it syncs up perfectly with the avatar.

I actually watch all three CSI shows. Vegas is definitely the best, followed by Miami and NY. My main critique would be that the three male lead CSIs (Peterson, Caruso, Sinise) are all a bit too similar. Serious loner types, noteworthy for their 'brilliance' but with a hint of deep melancholy and cynicism. Vegas stands out because of the humour, which is sneaking into Miami and is all but absent in NY. I still find it enjoyable to watch, so far. I was a latecomer to this series, watching my first CSI in 2003 so it still seems fresh for me. I stopped watching L&O because it had just become far too predictable, the observations about the guest stars always being guilty was a great point. And Sam Waterson's impassioned jury speeches were just starting to piss me off.
