I haven't seen them live for about 15 years, but "Bright Orange" was a wonderful record, and I'm very much looking forward to this.

I just might have to make the trip to Chicago to go to this. Thanks for the info.

Big fan here, but I think the reunion efforts have been so-so at best. I'll probably download the new album when it appears on eMusic (the handful of songs I heard sounded promising).

Some of the solo albums from Robert Forster are worth checking out.

I think the post-reunion albums are some of the best smart-pop of the past decade.

I think I'll have to make a trip up to LA for this. And fortunately it's on a Saturday.

They don't sound like a particular group, but RIYL The Church, Verlaines, Squeeze, XTC, Crowded House, Finn Brothers, Paul Kelly, Wilco, Lucksmiths, Mojave 3, Delgados, Beulah, Decemberists, Clientele, The Wedding Present, db's, Aztec Camera, Guided By Voices, Kings Of Convenience, Belle & Sebastian, The Feelies, etc.

Literate, classy, sophisticated pop music, with unusual arrangements and melodies that aren't cookie-cutter

Interesting tidbit: AMG lists Hop On Pop as a "follower."

listen to this for a bit: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/thegobetweens.html
