I knew I would be leaving Mobile, but not sure how much time will be spent at Redlands and how much time soaking up free Guinness and foodstuffs at my dad's UCLA Compund, therefore I did not order the records that I desperately wanted from Amazon.

I thought, well, I know I'll be in Atlanta, so I can just get them at Criminal, w/o any hassle or shipping fees or wait. And whaddaya know? I go to Criminal on friday: No new Ike Reilly, No Marah 20,000 Streets, and no new 2 Dollar Pistols.

I have never struck out that hard in a non-big-box record store. The guy behind the counter, who has reccomended good stuff to me before had never even heard of Ike Reilly. Not surprising, but if any of you truly knew what his first record has done to me or my listening habits, you would know why this hurts, and why I want the new one so badly.

Oh wel, nothing life threatening or even very meaningful, but a big dissapointment nonetheless. I guess I can console myself with a big Dawgs win, Earnhardt taking the race, and the fact that I am drawing pay for doing less than the nothing I was doing at my job.

I posted on the CMJ board on a few occasions about how much the guys at Criminal disappoint me sometimes.

I've had many similar experiences there and not just with really obscure stuff.

I remember a few months ago, I believe you and Stu said you had similar experiences. I always figured you guys were asking after stuff NO ONE would know ;)

I actually almost picked up the mAtador at 15 comp, and then was like "fuck this place, I'm not getting something i kinda want just cause they don't have what I do want." Which left me with more money for beers.

If you jump on the Clever Cactus bandwagon I have the Marah record. I listen to both Ike Reilly's on Rhapsody for the time being, however.

As soon as we figure out our networking problems at Redlands (comcast comes tomorrow) I will be a very clever cactus, indeed.

How is the new Ike Reilly? I know Billzebub said it is pretty tight.

I like it, but I hadn't heard the previous until you had mentioned it. I like the first one a little more, but I've probably listened to it three times as much. I'll probably throw both on this afternoon after my lazy-ass nap.

Every single record shop in L5P disappoints me. Go to Athens and you'll find what you need at Low Yo Yo, Wuxtry or School Kids. But you know that already.

Actually, after living in Atlanta for over 6 years now, I still haven't gone record shopping in Athens.

None of my friends like to blow money on music like I do so I have I hard time motivating them to take a (short) road trip for record shopping. My girlfriend would go with me, but she gets pissed when I spend a lot of money.

Drinky, Athens has some great local indie shops. Hell Wuxtury even has an all vinyl store.

I've had some great drunken conversations with the guys at Low Yo Yo Stuff after shows at the 40 watt. It's actually attached to the 40 watt.

The guy that owns it is an absolute guru and if he doesn't have it he knows where to get and he won't over charge you. You should plan a trip to see a show at the 40 watt and hit it up before or after one weekend.

Loog, you know there are other stores in Atlanta. Suck it up and go to the Buckhead Tower. That store is insane and they had the new Ike Reilly the last time I was in there.

Tower has a great selection, but the prices on a lot of indie stuff there is really high.

I only buy jazz and new releases and old stuff that's on sale there. Of course, that covers a large part of what I buy in general.

Well, if you had told me this beforehand, I would've gone over there. Thanks, DICK! I mean, fuck, I was at the Apple Store in Lenox...right there, and YOU, supposedly my friend, let me fucking swing on this one.

Next time I see you, there's gonna be a reckoning.
