The radio show this morning mentioned that W has an iPod, and it listed some of the songs he allegedly has on it. They mentioned Brown Eyed Girl, which I could've told you, along with some Stevie Ray Vaughn, and most surprisingly Centerfield by John Fogerty.

Doesn't John Fogerty HATE president bush (intentionally not capitalized as a sign of disrespect)? If I were him and I heard he was not just listening to my music but announcing that he's listening to it in press releases, I believe I might shit a kitten. How dumb is he? JF just got done releasing an album that bashes the war you're so proud of, and touring to help get you out of office to boot, and yet you can't resist the magical allure of Centerfield?!?

WTF?

What I want to know is: Did Mr. Bush legally purchase every song on his ipod?

I want assistants.

If he downloads a song from a CD an assistant owns, would this be legal?

from a nytimes article:
Quote:
Mr. Bush has had his Apple iPod since July, when he received it from his twin daughters as a birthday gift. He has some 250 songs on it, a paltry number compared to the 10,000 selections it can hold. Mr. Bush, as leader of the free world, does not take the time to download the music himself; that task falls to his personal aide, Blake Gottesman, who buys individual songs and albums, including Mr. Jones's and Mr. Jackson's greatest hits, from the iTunes music store.

I'd love to be the assistant and add some Nurse with Wound or Throbbing Gristle on there. This was an actual segment on World News Tonight last night.

Or maybe he possesses that elusive ability to seperate a dislike for an artist's persona from the damn catchy tunes they sing?

Nonetheless, Mr. McKinnon said that Mr. Bush had not gone so far as to include on his playlist "Fortunate Son," the angry anti-Vietnam war song about who has to go to war that Mr. Fogerty sang when he was with Creedence Clearwater Revival.

I reiterate my feeling that this "news" must really anger Mr. Fogerty.

I didn't really think that song was so much Anti-Vietnam as anti establishment. Anti-rich fucks getting special treatment in general. And I can guarantee that W. not see the irony in listening to this song. He probably perks up everytime that Wrangler commercial comes on, cuz them's some fine 'Merican jeans (whose manufacture we have let move overseas)

Who cares? It's a fifty-something year old man and his average taste in popular music. Big deal?

I for one hate anarchists, but that "Tubthumping" was a catchy little number.

You're kidding...?

It's not revolutionary, and there's certainly more important stuff going on, but for the president's handlers to have picked one of his songs to mention when it's pretty widely accepted that Fogerty is extremely critical of Bush... makes little or no sense.
