If you missed what Spin called 2004's "Comeback of the Year," you've got another chance - PIXIES - Frank Black (vocals, guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals), Joey Santiago (guitar), David Lovering (drums) - will kick off three weeks worth of U.S. tour dates beginning May 26 in Portland, Oregon. The trek will include concerts in many cities the band was unable to play during last year's reunion tour, certainly the hottest reunion in ages. On a handful of the tour stops, Pixies will do "double-headers" - an early and a late show (see below for specifics). In addition, the band has on its itinerary select music festival appearances, including the Sasquatch Festival in George, Washington, Atlanta's Music Midtown, and the CMJ Rock Hall Music Fest in Cleveland.

Pixies kicked off their reunion tour a year ago, the first show being on April 13 in Minneapolis, MN, and over the ensuing eight months, shattered sales records around the world. The tour ended in December in New York City with 24,000 tickets sold for an unprecedented eight-night, sold-out run. During the reunion, Pixies recorded and made available their first brand-new song in thirteen years, "Bam Thwok," written by Kim Deal and sold exclusively through iTunes.

Pixies formed in Boston in 1986 and disbanded in 1992 after recording five albums and have since been acclaimed as one of the biggest influences on the alternative rock scene of the time. U2's Bono referred to the Pixies as "one of America's greatest bands ever," and David Bowie called their work
"just about the most compelling music of the entire '80s."

With more dates and specifics to be announced, confirmed PIXIES 2005 tour dates are as follows:

MAY
26 Roseland Theatre, Portland, OR
(TWO shows, 6:00PM, 10:00PM, on sale now)

I read that on those nites where they do 2 shows, they're toying with the idea of one being a "hits" set & the other being a "rarities" set.

Not gonna happen my friend. Shoulda gone when you had the chance last time. Oh well. Maybe on the 2008 reunion tour when the drummer dries up his bank account from all the top hats, doves, and knotted hankys he buys for his magic act.

Supposedly, 1st show = BSides and rarities, 2nd = hits.....
but, at $120 for a pair of tickets, I'm not sure if I'll be going to either of them...

They were showing for $45 when I looked but didn't quite buy (waiting to hear from GigBuddy). Are we to $15/ticket in 'convenience fees' already?

something like $9.50 in ticketmaster charges each, $4.50 for online ordering (total), and $3 to print your own tickets (will call is not an option, and it's $10+ to mail them)...

So, yes, about $15 just to print your own tickets..

I think you're off the hook now that we have the password for early orders. Just have to decide if I have 60 bucks for that. :)

Wait, since when does Ticketmaster charge to mail you tickets? If you select the regular US Mail option, there's no charge.

The Pixies, band, or The Pacifier, movie?

Or, is it just that Frank Black is a huge Vin Diesel fan?
