By request from LooGar, here is the playlist from my Bingo Night gig last night. Keep in mind that these people have no idea what most of those music is, so, yeah, I skew a little mainstream sometimes. But I'm getting paid and getting free drinks to shatter eardrums, berate people and call bingo numbers. Why complain?

I Wanna Holler (But The Towns Too Small) - The Detroit Cobras
Guero - Beck
Real Deal - Vybz Kartel
Tonight On The WB - The Comas
Hope - R.E.M.
Ice Cold Daydream - Shuggie Otis
Miss You - The Rolling Stones
Family Tradition - Cracker
The Fly - U2
Buggin' Out - A Tribe Called Quest

Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses - U2
Hot Pants - James Brown
Molly's Chambers - Kings Of Leon
Keep On Sockin' It To Me - Sam Moore
Water In The Sky - Phish
Take Your Mamma - Scissor Sisters

I'm also jealous I'm not here, Kurtz. You didn't include the addendum that most of this stuff could easily draw you a LIFE sentence under the Fayette-nam jail ;)

Yeah, it helps that everybody has to drink ("Social, Fuckers!") everytime I call a prime number. Even the host.

The iPod made it too easy last night. Not having to shuffle playlist sheets and switch discs gave me too much free time. I drank and smoked way too much. Now I've gotta plant four huge trees which should make me feel better......

Two fat ladies....88!

Turns out the Weather Girls are still enormous (excuse the unintentional pun) in Germany. Why doesn't that surprise me.

Nice!

I remember playing bingo when my folks has a place on a small lake in Tennesse. The little social hall had bingo every night for people in the area.

The guy always had some sort of saying for certain numbers. The ones I remember were:

"Hey it's those two little ducks on a pond......22!"

"Ohhhh those beautiful legs.....11!!"

"Everybody get your guns out........45!! BANG BANG!"

I can't remember anymore thank god.

Priceless. I think I said, "The bingo ate my baby," and "Sweep the leg, Johnny" several times.

I also had this middle 40's drunk heckling me. I was fairly polite until he left with another snide comment, So I gave him one of my two stock Kiss-Off lines---"Sir, people like you will always work for people like me" I thought he was gonna shit! His friends got him out of there just in time because some of the regulars were threatening the guy. I must have been in the right because I asked the crowd to applaude his exit and they did. Hilarious.

BTW, my other kiss-off line is, "People like you are a dime a dozen" Nobody wants to realize that about themselves.

This whole enterprise reeks of awesomeness.

I'm trying to get an iPod/MP3/mix CD night going at my fave pub downtown, where everyone gets a chance to play 5 songs or so.

Anyone ever been to one of these? It sounds like a cool idea, but I'm wondering if it's as good in execution as it is in concept.

It's better as a concept. I mean this in the least pretentious way possible, but not everyone has decent musical taste..

And, to each person in this world, no one has better musical taste than they do themselves...

This 5 song scenario just sets itself up for dissapointment..

I have a feeling this bingo place can get really rowdy by the end of the night.

I can tell you that it totally can. I used to play at this bar every week and the kind of monsters that hang out at that place would eat/drink/snort that bingo right up.

Its not a bingo place, its just a bar. I saw this guy do something similiar in Atlanta a couple years ago, asked him if i could steal it, then pitched it to the owner of the bar. It helps that I drink there a lot and often bring in my own CD's to hijack their stereo. And the bartender is an old cronie of mine as well who I work into the show.

And yeah, it can get pretty rowdy, but its really just starting to draw some people; I have outdrawn their Texas Hold-'Em the last two weeks which is good considering how many poker reprobates there are that go to those things EVERY night of the week at some place or another.
