... to my wife last night, and now I think I have to go to the U2 concert.

I truly beleive 3 figures is completely out of bounds for a band whose best days were behind them a decade ago, but when we had this discussion last night she told me that we only do things that I like to do etc etc

I got really frustrated and said "think of a good band to go see and I'll go with you"

Tears etc. Now I feel like shit & think I'm going to end up at U2.

Did she cry because you insulted U2 or because you were acting like a cock?

Either way suck it up and try to enjoy a show from one of the best bands on the planet.

There are worse things. At least it's not a Dave Matthews show. Still, that's an expensive show to choose. She do that out of spite?

I mean, even though it's expensive, there are much worse bands she could've dragged you to see...just enjoy it, whether the funds are there or not, and make sure she's happy (as that's the important thing)...

Acting like a dick got the tears. My wife has an uncanny ability to shut anyone out who raises their voice or swears or anything like that, but if you make a sarcastic or smart ass comment where she feels stupid, then she stops arguing pretty fast. I think she was crying because she knows I was trying to shut her down by making the comment with a bit of a smirk, and now I'm gonna have to go to U fucking 2.

Not only can I be a dick, but I'm obviously not smart either.

She's not doing it out of spite, I know how she operates and in order to get it behind us before I travel for the next two weeks, going to the show is the best option.

There are way worse bands she could've dragged you to. Seriously.

Three figure tickets to an almost certainly decent show is a much better choice than going away for two weeks while the seething resentment ferments and becomes stronger, exploding in a revolting mess upon your reunification. Unless that's seriously the rent money, of course. Or you don't want to have a relationship anymore.

If it makes any difference, I've heard this year's U2 shows are fantastic. As a longtime U2 fan, I bowed out of this tour from paying the big bucks to see them.

I can't believe how much the shows cost. Count me out.

Who's opening for them? I dunno, I would go, but the bread issue is the wall. I've never seen them, so I'd like to see them before I die since I do enjoy their music, much as I'd like to see a Stones or Dylan show as well.

Elevation Tour was really good, Popmart tour not so good. I'm not going to see them on this tour. I've finally lost interest.

Concerts I've gone to with/for a girl, DMB, Matchbox 20... so painful.

Concerts I've gone to with/for a SO (that I likely wouldn't have bothered with on my own)

Dream Theater
Bruuuuuuuce
Van Morrison
Furey Bros... um, a 'political' concert evidently. Scary crowd.
Magic Band

I'm more the dragger than the draggee, as a rule.

You're telling me you're the only person alive who wouldn't give life and limb to see Mr. Springsteen in the flesh?

And you're lumping him in with Dream Theatre?

You're dead to me.
