I don't have any albums on order because I like going out into the world and making spontanious decisions. Some people say I am old fashioned, that I have chained myself to the inconvenient age of old, hollering "Get with the programme, Amazon deliver to our door!" but I defend my record shopping habits with the sword of Browsing-The-Racks and the shield of That-Looks-Quite-Good-I'll-Buy-It..

Good on ya.

But where I live, the "out into the world" means a shitload of trees and a Wal-Mart.

I’m with you about 95%. I just now test before I buy. So I don't have the "That-Looks-Quite-Good-I'll-Buy-It..." thing going on as much but fuck buying on-line.

Also very, very lucky because I live in California and have the best record store on earth right around the corner. I have spent more money at Amoeba than at any other place over the last 10 years. Most spent is San Francisco, than Berkeley, but now Los Angeles.

If you were in KC you'd have no choice but to order online. Borders does have a reasonably decent selection but considering you end up paying about 19.34 for a disc, spontaneity gets less and less attractive.

All I've got on order right now is Loretta Lynn's Van Lear Rose, and Green Day's American Idiot and both of those are on order from the public library.

Only thing I've got on order right now is the Bill Hicks DVD that came out a couple weeks ago ( finally a US DVD! )

Even though I live within walking distance of the "cool" record stores in town I haven't been to them in over a year probably. Just sick of not finding what I want, & dealing with jagoff employees. Plus, I have an Amazon credit card now that earns me free shit, so I've been buying from them more & more.

this made me think of the massive list of albums i need to buy for xmas presents.

i don't think i'll post them, just in case someone comes a wandering.

but man, i'm not much of a fan of the "hey this looks interesting" thing anymore. i'll do it for something i've read about and at least heard some of it, but man, i get burned so many times.

Those of you who buy online should definately check out sonic boom records for your next purchase.

I ordered Wilco's A Ghost is Born, Iron & Wine's Our Endless Numbered Days, and Autolux's Future Perfect on Friday and they arrived on Monday (from Seattle to Philly, I was impressed). Shipping is free for any order over $30, and the price of every cd I ordered was the same or cheaper than all the other online stores I checked, and they're an indie shop = you can't go wrong!

Any day now I should be getting:

Racebannon - (some LP prior to In the Grips of the Light)
Racebannon - (split with some band, not Song of Zarathustra)
Jason Molina - (that 7" he put out through Chunklett)

Well, I'll guess I'll know the specifics when I get 'em.

I also ordered a Wolf Eyes shirt recently (the red one like the Dead Hillscover which that had on tour but only in XL), but I'm thinking that might have been a mistake. I might have just sent $15 into oblivion. :?

Just placed an order a few days ago for the new Futureheads CD at playcentric.com for US$11.20 postpaid and the new Flaming Stars Named and Shamed (been listening a lot to their Sunset & Void recently) at deepdiscountcd.com for US$10.18 postpaid. Cool, but will I ever get them? We'll just have to wait and see ...
