The next dickwad who says, "It’s your money, not the government's money" is gonna get their ass kicked. Nine of the ten states that get the most federal fucking dollars and pay the least... can you guess? Go on, guess. That’s right, motherfucker, they're red states. And eight of the ten states that receive the least and pay the most? It’s too easy, asshole, they’re blue states. It’s not your money, assholes, it’s fucking our money. What was that Real American Value you were spouting a minute ago? Self reliance? Try this for self reliance: buy your own fucking stop signs, assholes.

Way to spin it! What Mr. Blue doesn't realize is that most of that money that he's whining about goes to programs that support the people down here that voted blue. Hop off the high horse. As if you're a direct descendent of one of those "founding fathers" that you claim, and as if the Father and mind behind the Constitution itself wasn't a Red-stater named Madison. Give me a break. I get a thousand e-mails that give the opposite side of this story and I don't come on here posting them. I'm really getting sick of the self-righteous, pretentious, out of the closet "I'm better than you" vibe that I've been getting around here since the election. It's pretty obvious that the only thing that I share with the vast majority of this board is some taste in music.

I'm getting a little tired of all of this regionalism and elitism coming fom "blue state" people myself. Whether these are meant as jokes or not is beside the point. They're furthering the deep divides in our country and reinforcing the fears that "fundamentalists" have that "liberals" hate Christianity and the people of the South.

I mean, the Jesusland thing was funny, but lets move on.

Also, trying to apply "blue state" and "red state" labels to anyone prior to 1950, let alone the 20th Century, and certainly to our 18th Century Founding Fathers is utterly ridiculous.

This really isn't very funny to most of us who don't feel like we can easily separate ourselves from "Middle America". It's fucking sad.

You thought I wouldn't find this thread?

To quote Outkast: "Talk bad about the A-Town, I'll bust you in your fuckin' mouth"

I see this may be a joke, blah, blah, blah...but Drinky is right, maybe you blue state fucktard liberals could win states like Alabama and Georgia if you had any idea how to talk TO people, and not AT them.

I think people are allowed to write/post/create things like this for some time more. The election was only a week ago, and there are plenty of people still pissed off and disappointed in our nation. Let them vent and poke fun and be angry. If they're still doing crap like this in a month then you can jump down their throats. The anger is legitimate. Let them do what they think they must.

That said, I laughed my ass off at quite a few lines.

Come now, children 'tall will be well, in due time...

I saw Stan Greenberg (DNC Polster, etc) on CSPAN saying that Dems needed to study up on the ol' Bible, and learn how to sell what they belive in those terms to speak to "red staters"

Funny, my candidate did that and won 60-40 (and outpolled the prez in MOBILE, AL)

Just sayin'

Loog, funny is funny.

But, for every democrat goofing on red staters I can show you a democrat that voted for Kerry SOLELY..

1.because he wasn't Bush. They can offer no other reason than that.
2.because of a Michael Moore movie they saw.
3.because of the endorsement of a celebrity. I know of two people who voted based on the opinions of Bruuuuce and Michael Stipe.

Now THAT'S dumb! If I laugh at my neighbors here in Atlanta it's with the knowledge that they aint any smarter over in Mass. or NY.

You are right about Democrats needing to work on appealing to red state voters. If they want to spend the next 4 years belittling them, hey, give 'em enough rope...

Steve

The democrats don't need to make this conscious effort to appeal to the red states. I believe this is what they do. Just because people talk slow doesn't mean they think slow. Everyone can see right through the moderate postitions. The DLC postion represented by the modern democratic party is a watered down joke. Zell Miller tries to say the party moved away from him when it is in fact that since the early 80's the party has done nothing but move towards him. If the Dems want to appeal to anyone they need an honest position instead of simply trying pull a Clinton and "outrepublican the republicans."

There is really no such thing as Red state/Blue state. Even Texas had almost 40% of their votes going to Kerry. It seems kinda dumb to rip on a whole chunk of the country just because you disagree with a small majority of their voters.

Personally, I helped deliver my county to Kerry, which helped deliver my state to Kerry. I'm disappointed he didn't win, but not bitter or resentful.

People have to realize that this kind of crap isn't swaying anyone's opinion.

Max,

I did not realize any of the counties in the UP went for Kerry. The map looked liek he just just got the big urban areas minus Grand Rapids.

Pagoda, you pinko, Dean volunterring bastard, you are right as well as being wrong. What Dem candidates in the South need to do above all is be themselves. If someone like Inez Tenenbaum comes out against gay marriage, when it is easily provable that she has taken money from national gay organizations, she loses credibility, and that is what is the real problem. No one believes Democrats in the South anymore. Which is partially due to Clinton.

But, trust me, most polling shows that 'liberals' don't even stand a fucking chance in these states.

And, Max is right, saying that Bush took all the counties of the UP is like saying he took Alabama.... there are still 40% of people that didn't vote for him.

A bigger, and more looming, and more ominous problem is that the Democratic Party in the south is in danger of being seen as the "black party" -- look at the defection of all those south GA Dems last week after Rs took the General Assembly. This is bad for everyone, because it almost automatically divides people upon racial lines.

But, as I said before, I have the answers, all will be well.

Actually, three UP counties went blue. Here is an interesting breakdown of results, broken down to county level:
http://www.electoral-vote.com/images/counties-2004.gif

I think it is interesting how the blue on the map follows waterways and coastlines... Check out the Missisippi river. But then, I guess most urban areas are near water, and urban = leftward-leaning.
