This is the first group of bands to be announced. They always announce tons more later and more headliners usually sign on the closer the festival gets. It's June 10-12 this year.

There some shit on here but hell, 3 day passes are usually under $45 and the Pixies, Lou Reed, White Stripes, Loretta Lynn, and Tom Petty would be worth it for me.

Alan Jackson
Bloc Party
Chris Cagle
Clay Walker
Coheed and Cambria
Cross Canadian Ragweed
Darryl Worley
Joan Jett
Joe Dee Messina
Keane
Keith Urban
Kid Rock
Loretta Lynn
Lou Reed
Louis XIV
Michael Tolcher
Mofro
Montgomery Gentry
Shelly Fairchild
The Features
The Killers
The Pixies
The White Stripes
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
Trace Adkins

Bout 3 or 4 years ago I went w/ Yail and Busty, and during the Black Crowes I couldn't see $hit (being all of 5"4'), so Busty hoisted me up on his shoulders... it was Awesome. Up there it was just me and like 20 chicks, lots of whom were flashing. I'm telling you, that's the only way to see a show.

I just checked the website and I was mistaken on that price. Full festival tix are going to be $75!! That is the highest they have ever been. They will need to add a few more quality bands for me to consider this.

They do have an internet pre-sale going until April 9th where they are $65.

That's a lot of money to be in the GA. heat with a bunch of people. I'm with you Benny. A few more people and I'd consider it.

why did they move this to summer? I have only actually made it to MM once and it was not that great of an experience. Only really got to see David Lee Rothh on friday, because Yail and I ran afoul of the local constabulatory and had to hole up for the weekend. I think I'll just avoid this on gp from now on.

Dalen, MM takes place in the heart of Midtown/downtown Atlanta. For the weekend they close of around 5-6 blocks of streets and huge parking lots and set up about 6 stages of various radio station sponsorship. It's big enough so that the stages don't bleed into each other too bad but it's a nice hike from one end of the thing to the other.

There are hotels all around there but your best bet would be to stay in the Buckhead area and take MARTA (local public transit rail) to the festival. It'd be a little cheaper.

I've always had a pretty good time but there are some cons to it.

1) Some of the venues are in these huge pavement parking lots so there isn't a lot of places to just sit and chill. But, some are on the grass and you can find places to chill at those under trees and such.

2)It's June in Atlanta so it's usually pretty hot but not too bad. Mid-80's- low 90's.

3) Typical overpriced beer/ food that is usual for these types of things.

Friday is usually chaotic because people get off work and rushing to get down there and everyone is trying to figure out where everything is. Saturday and Sunday are pretty cool though. People come and go at various times and you can plan out who you really want to see so you're not walking all over.

Here's some random pics:

I went to music midtown from 8th grade up until my senior year of high school (95-00). My mom works with MARTA occasionally so one of the workers there would give her tickets for me. I remember it just got worse and worse each year as far as quality of bands playing. This year looks good though, I'm gonna be down in June just for a quick visit to the parents/friends, so perhaps I'll work in a day or two for some pixies/stripes action.

Never been to Music Midtown, even when I lived there. Heard it's a nightmare-- too hot, too crowded, can't see shit, beers are overpriced. Hmm, sounds like Atlanta to me! ;)

What the fuck ever! I saw them there a few years ago and they fucking ruled. Nothing like hearing "Photograph" in person. I remember my ex-girlfirend standing besids me looking at my friends and I in fear. Later she said "I've never seen you act like that at a show before". Nuff said.

I went to Music Midtown in '99 and saw Iggy Pop, Goodie Mob, The Black Crowes, and I can't remember what else.

Oh yeah, on the lest night I caught a few minutes of Widespread Panic, not really knwoing what they were all about, and some drunk fuck nearly pissed on me. I haven't been back to MM since.

The line-ups have mostly sucked horribly the past few years, but even with a good one, I dunno if I want to go. I'm not sure where they have it now, but I've seen tons of kids walking up and down Ponce, not far from where I live, during the festival. I can usually hear stuff in that general area, too.

Anyway, I'm not big on big music festivals, but if I can find a way to get in really cheap or free, then I might go. If not, though, and if a bunch of you guys are gonna be around for this, I'd still like to hang out. Maybe we could all grab something to eat somewhere and get some decent, reasonably-priced drinks.

I don't think I can do it anymore; especially not for 75 bucks. I just can't stand being around that many people. I think I jumped the shark on that shit a long time ago.

Attn. Drinky: That wasn't me that pissed on you at Panic, but I think I did pee on some chick accidentally at Dylan a few years ago. Her boyfriend seemed to want to bow up, but when he caught the twisted eyes of my companion for the evening (we'll call him "Chitwood") he actually apologized to me.....
