I rarely have problems loading pages, but lately, Obner has been horribly slow. Is it just me or are others experiencing the same?

i've always had this problem with obner. it's not every thread, just a few of those that i check on. and there seems to be no pattern.

it's the avatars. either adblock them with firefox or just turn off the option to view them in your profile.

I've found that turning off that option does usually help. Threads with a bunch of the animated ones tend to get things bogged down.

Same 'ere. I'll click on a thread, and nothing will happen for the longest time. I usually end up clicking on it a couple more times out of frustration- kinda like repeatedly mashing the walk/don't walk button at stoplights.

My cursor is kinda feeble, too, blinking half-heartedly- that usually indicates there's something amiss.

There's a chance that pruning would help, but I hate to lose all of those classic "NP" threads. Ok, I don't, but still I would be afraid we'd lose good stuff.

Saturday was just brutal. I've got a stopwatch beside me (for timing my presentation) and starting clocking load times. It was roughly 2-3 min per page. Sunday it was practically normal.

I've had problems with a couple threads, but not all of them. I was massively disappointed when it took forever to get into the "Most Important Band of the 90s" thread when I finally got in and saw what was hiding.

I'm really not having any issues today. Saturday may have been a hosting issue - if they were making updates to the server, it may have just been slow.

It was a Slowbner weekend here, too...seems to be OK now, though - as Haq mentioned. I bet it was a server issue.

I'm still having loading issues, but not nearly as much as I did on Saturday.

This thread takes forever to open, and I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with images. You're probably right about the board needing a good pruning, Haq. That has worked well on other boards I've frequented.

I've turned off avatars and it is working much better.

Still, I say we sacrifice an Obner member to the Internet Gods to keep them happy. I vote ScottyCash99 for slagging off my first-generation internet connection.
